Do you know Barbie's real name?

Did you know that Barbie, the iconic doll introduced in 1959, has a full name? She’s known as Barbara Millicent Roberts and hails from the fictional town of Willows, Wisconsin. Her official birthday is March 9, 1959, marking her debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.

Created by Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel, Barbie was designed to provide young girls with a doll that encouraged imaginative play and allowed them to envision themselves in various adult roles. Over the years, Barbie has taken on more than 150 careers, ranging from doctor and pilot to astronaut and computer engineer, inspiring generations to dream big.

Barbie’s personal life is also rich with characters. She has three younger sisters: Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea. Her on-again, off-again relationship with Ken Carson began in 1961, adding depth to her story.

Beyond being a toy, Barbie serves as a symbol of aspiration and limitless possibilities. Through her diverse roles and representations, she encourages children to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
